Friday Prayers at Jama Masjid on Flickr.
Rows of Muslim men bow in unison during mid-day prayers held every Friday in the courtyard of the Jama Masjid, Delhi’s largest and main mosque.
The courtyard can hold up to twenty-five thousand worshippers. It is heavily utilised every Friday when men around the capital congregate for Jumu’ah, otherwise simply known as Friday prayers. Muslims believe that a person who has gone to a Friday prayer will be forgiven of his sins over the past week.
